A list of metrics, KPIs, and their definitions in the P2 platform
Refer to this list if you have questions about how to complete a particular field in the worksheet.
- Sales calculations are not to include sales of gift cards but will include sales that are paid for with gift cards as the form of tender.
- Sales calculations exclude all sales taxes.
- Product costs (COGS) are defined as the sum of invoice prices paid to the vendor for the product.
- It does not include physical inventory adjustments, cycle count adjustments, shrink, or freight.
- It will include any volume discounts from vendors at the time of purchase, but should not include any financial discounts for early payment.

Total count of transactions
Number of Work Orders
Count of work orders. Excludes work orders related to the sale of new bikes.

The total number of visitor entrances. Excludes non-customer traffic such as employees, deliveries, etc.

Sales of all items not traditionally included in the bike industry catalog. Include fitness equipment, skis, snowshoes, paddlesports, boardsports, etc., as well as sales from significant online activities (>5%) that are run separately from the brick+mortar operation.
Sales - Online Direct
Sales of items sold through an online channel. Include all categories sold through an online channel.
Note: These items should be filtered out from any of the above data categories. If this is not feasible, omit reporting as part of the Non-P2-Focus data point.
Sales - Online Commissions
Commissions earned from sales on supplier online channels. Include fees earned from assembly, pickup, in-store activity, revenue-sharing, etc.

OPERATIONS DATA
Total SqFt
The total area under the control of the enterprise. Include show floor, workshop, storage, office, etc.
Show Floor SqFt
The area primarily devoted to the bike-related show floor. Exclude show floor for non-P2-focus items, storage, workshop, office, ancillary areas.
Service Shop SqFt
The area primarily devoted to the bike-related workshop. Exclude workshop space for non-P2-focus activity, storage, show floor, office, ancillary areas.
Total Hours Worked
Total hours worked throughout the enterprise. Include Independent contractor, salaried employees at 40 hours/week, active owners.
Sales Hours Worked
Total hours worked by staff primarily engaged in sales. Exclude hours worked by employees primarily engaged in non-P2 focus activity.
Note: Many employees divide time between roles. Estimates are acceptable, as long as they are consistently estimated over time
Service Hours Worked

Facility Costs
Total fair-market costs related to the facilities used. Include rents, common-area charges (CAM), property taxes, insurance, repairs and maintenance, depreciation of any capitalized facility costs.
Note: If the enterprise owns its real estate and charges itself under-market rates, adjustments should be made to approximate fair-market values.
Payroll - Total Direct Wages
Total direct compensation. Includes all direct salaries, wages, bonuses, vacation pay, PTO, and other direct compensation paid to all staff, including the fair market value of owners’ work. Includes employee vacation pay, sick day pay, sabbatical, or any similar program. Exclude payroll taxes, health/vision/dental benefits, employee discounts, 401k company contributions, retirement plan costs, etc.

Outreach
Total costs associated with community outreach and marketing. Include all forms of advertising, website fees, email marketing, team sponsorships, hosted event costs, etc.
Trade A/P
Inventory accounts payable for at month-end. Include any outstanding payables owed to inventory suppliers. Exclude any outstanding payables owed to utilities, landlords, professional services, etc.
Note: Some accounting software does not readily separate account payables by type, estimate appropriately.
EBITDA
Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization. Exclude tax payments, all forms of interest expense (line of credit, term loan, credit card, capital leases), interest income (bank interest, invoice prepayment), book depreciation (not tax depreciation), amortization of intangible assets (goodwill). Include the fair market value of owner(s)’ time in the business, if not included in net income.
