Security Features

To increase security on your site, there are a few additional options you should use to ensure more legitimate business traffic is coming through the PayPal payment gateway.

  • In PayPal, you can disable the PayPal Account Optional setting under Account Settings (located in the account name drop-down in the upper right corner)> Products + Services > Website Payments > Website Preferences > Update > Scroll down to PayPal Account Optional = Off.
    • This requires the customer to have a verified PayPal account
  • You also have the option to require a verified address
    • Selecting “Only accept orders from PayPal Confirmed Shipping Address” in the PayPal Merchant Interface reduces the risk fraudulent orders.
  • It is worth noting that In-Store Pickup vs. shipped transactions offer different levels of protection for you as a seller.
